Our story
Where 10 Seconds of Wisdom came from
The idea for 10 Seconds of Wisdom started during a visit with my 91-year-old grandfather.
I asked him a simple question: “What’s your philosophy on life, in ten words or less?”
“Just be a nice person.”
That got me thinking about how much knowledge, perspective and experience exists in the people around us, and how easily much of it can disappear without ever being recorded or shared.
So I wanted to create a place to collect some of it.
10 Seconds of Wisdom is a place for people with decades of life experience to share something they’ve learned, in their own words and in their own voice.
It might be profound. It might be practical. It might be funny. It might be something as simple as being nice to people.
Just as importantly, this project is meant to be a place where seniors can be heard, valued and appreciated for the experience they carry with them.
There’s no need to be famous, an expert, or a great storyteller. You’ve lived. You’ve learned things. And something you know might be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
Ten seconds. One piece of advice. Decades behind it.
